Overview

Cummins Guidanz is a comprehensive digital platform designed to enhance the service and maintenance experience for fleet managers, technicians, and equipment owners. Developed by Cummins, a global leader in power solutions, Guidanz provides real-time diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repair guidance for Cummins engines and equipment. By leveraging advanced telematics and data analytics, Guidanz helps users minimize downtime, optimize performance, and reduce maintenance costs.

My Role

As a UIUX specialist, I collaborate with product owner, development team, and testing team to optimize the user experience in diagnostic session, data analysis and module management. Moreover, I also leaded the design system improvement work and user research of Marketplace, a To-Customer sales platform.

Building design system from 0 to 1

Due to my previous intern experience of building design system for Mckinsey, I leaded the project of developing and implementing a comprehensive design system for Cummins Guidanz
I collaborated closely with cross-functional teams, including product managers, developers, and stakeholders, to align the design system with both user needs and business goals. This involved conducting audits of existing interfaces, identifying pain points, and creating reusable components such as buttons, forms, icons, and typography styles. Additionally, I established guidelines for accessibility, responsiveness, and branding to ensure a seamless user experience across devices and platforms

Scenario Exploration

Since Guidanz is a complext digital tool, different actions and machine connections will result in diverse results and solutions. It is highly crucial for designer to comprehend the product rationale. So I initiate the "fireside" project to build and share the scenairo statement with stakeholders and design team. This resource not only benefit for our designer to create the correct wireframe but also facilitate the product development process for dev and product team

Wireframe and Prototype ideation

As an independent contributor, I have leaded the design process for online/offline diagnostic session, parameter data visualization, and multi-module cal installation process, which are the main and crucial feature of Guidanz. In the process, I collaborate with product team and offshore development team to gain insights on user feedback and product rationale, to incorporate accessibility ,convenience, efficiency and user-centered design into real product.

Market&User Research for MarketPlace

Beside Guidanz, I also led user research and competitive analysis for Cummins Marketplace, an online platform for customers and channel suppliers. Through user interviews, surveys through Qualtrics, and usability testing, roadmap review. I identified key pain points and needs, such as simplified navigation, better product discovery, and streamlined checkout. I also analyzed leading e-commerce platforms to benchmark best practices and uncover opportunities for differentiation.The insights from this research informed the design strategy, ensuring the platform was user-centered, competitive, and aligned with business goals.
